- This is my theory. Institutionalised is a diagnosis or direct result of being in an institution (usually referring to correctional institutions) for a significant enough amount of time that a man or womans natural will to pursue happieness is a flame drowned by water. This persons only hope becomes to never have to leave the comfort of the institution, the knowledge that each day will be scarcely different than the last, they will sleep, eat, go to recreational, maybe a chapel or two, draw color, write letters play cards, chess, dominoes and even have access to news of public affairs without having to hustle for there next meal or shelter. They become dependant, comfortable, and frightened of change. The rise of a nation state using New Institionalism, sounds like a State of the Union that has become so comfortable in there ways they are dependent upon them, and scared to change their environment.
