Public Comments

  1. It depends on what type of organization that you want to be involved with. A degree in the primary topic of the organization would be the best, so you would have the best information and knowledge on that particular topic.
  2. There are many choices, all very useful, and determining 'the best' depends entirely on your own preferances, temprement, interests, and skills. Here are a few ideas: If you are interested in working in Administration or Management: Organizational Management, Business Administration, Public Administration-minor or certificate in Non Profit Administration. These are good choices because they are broad in scope and give you the tools to manage diverse types of NGOs. Other ideas that are general in nature might be Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, a Law Degree (and passing the Bar), Information Technology, Marketing, and Communications. These are fields that most NGO's use. You could also specialize; depending on the type of work the NGO you are interested in. Health Care Administration, Physicians and Nurses, Emergency Management, Social Work, Engineering, Political Science, Economists, Law Enforcement, Education, the list is endless. Specializing in an area that you enjoy doing can be very safisfying in the long run.
