- You could try this http://www.rsl.org.au/ This is an organisation of Returned Service people, they have a location in just about every town/suburb of Australia and work to help their communities.
- In Australia, they are often called "Quangos", short for "Quasi Non-Governmental Organisations"; meaning that they are not run by Government Departments; but depend on the Government for funding. They are sometimes controversial, because they are accused of being 'answerable to no one, except themselves". Here are a few references. The third one, from the Architectural Library is especially interesting; because it refers to a number of such organisations of interest to the building industry. http://www.uq.edu.au/economics/johnquiggin/news95/quango9504.html http://www.irspm2008.bus.qut.edu.au/papers/documents/Pendulum%20shift.pdf http://www.arclib.com.au/ecms/home/pages/common/show-story.cfm?story_id=5077&menu_id=2689
